Our Namesake:

DuBrul Maritime Group (DMG) is named after Commander (CDR) Don DuBrul, United States Navy, in order to preserve his legacy as a naval hero during WWII.  His close association with today’s DMG leadership, as a kindhearted neighbor and lifelong mentor, has made a lasting impression and has inspired persistent commitment to naval service.

CDR DuBrul served in the U.S. Navy as both an enlisted signalman and as a line officer and he fought with great distinction in both theaters of WWII and during the Korean War.

After surviving the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor and three convoy operations during the Battle of the Atlantic, his finest hour came on the hostile shores of Normandy France on June 6th, 1944 when he was the Commanding Officer of LCI-553, as a spot-promoted Lieutenant Junior Grade (LT (jg)).

He landed that vessel under heavy artillery and machine gun fire with a company of infantrymen during the second wave of amphibious forces to storm Omaha Beach, thus beginning the liberation of Europe from Nazi Germany.

Don DuBrul never spoke about his heroics during the invasion of Normandy.  He was too modest for such a thing.  After WWII he remained in the Naval Reserve until retiring as a Commander in 1955.  He was known to everybody as a kind and humble family-man with deep faith and profound integrity.  He passed away peacefully in 2008 surrounded by his wife Betty, daughters Dona and Paula, and his 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When speaking to Don Dubrul, it was impossible to detect the fearless warrior that lived inside.  He was a naval hero and ferocious combat leader who risked everything to save the world from tyranny.  Like so many of his generation, his service to this nation should never be forgotten.

That is why his name should be a household word in an industry that is dedicated to the readiness of naval surface ships.

It is an extreme honor for our company to bear the name DuBrul Maritime Group.
